Authentic

At Therapeutic Care we encourage our practitioner teams to be open about the way that they feel.

Children and young people, particularly those who have experienced trauma, are extremely sensitive to reading authenticity, and can sense when what we’re saying doesn’t match the feelings behind it that they’re feeling from us. This can be confusing for them, and extremely detrimental for building trust and safety in relationships. Being honest about how we feel models to our young people that their feelings are valid and reassures them that its ok that they feel the way that they do. Our authenticity teaches our children to be authentic and gives them permission to experience all their feelings. This is what supports young people to better understand their emotions, build resilience and grow through their experiences. We encourage authenticity and integrity from everyone at Therapeutic Care as we believe these qualities are instrumental for creating an organisational culture of safety, connection and collaboration.
