Compassionate

Recognising the needs of our children and young people and wanting to help is central to everything we do at Therapeutic Care.

Rooted in their experiences of developmental trauma are high levels of shame and self-criticism. Our children and young people can really struggle to be kind to themselves and frequently engage in self-blame, particularly around their journey into care. A focus on compassion in our work means a focus on developing skills in emotional regulation, relational connection and self-reflection. We also believe in the importance of compassion for our people too. To enable our teams to provide safe and high-quality care, they too need to feel safe, supported and valued. Compassion is a value modelled across all levels of our organisation.
